Towns, culture and the non-profit sector

Local government has a communication problem no press release will solve: it decides things people do not understand, and they only find out about them when the street outside gets dug up.

The explanation arrives late and in the wrong format

An official text on a website is read by a fraction of residents. The same content as a short video with a character to follow reaches many times more people — and above all the ones who would otherwise only hear the neighbour complaining.

Ideas

What you can film

A guide to the town

A town mascot explaining what is going on and why.

Our street back then

Historical views of specific places in the town. The strongest content there is for a town's social media — people share it themselves.

Why it is taking so long

An explanation of how an investment or a repair proceeds. It cuts complaints by answering before anyone asks.

A story that must not be shown

For charities: a real client's story without their face and without a single identifying detail.

How it works

What to watch out for

  • The character is created once and becomes a long-term asset of the institution.
  • In the non-profit sector, protecting clients' identity is absolute. A generated character makes it possible to show the story without showing the person.
  • Label a historical view of a place as a reconstruction. A reconstruction has value; a reconstruction passed off as a photograph is a problem.
